After merging the old RA3 and RA4 Units of the Bolin, the objective of the new Research theme 2 – Water, biogeochemistry and Climate, is the following:
The unit RT2 studies the coupled water and biogeochemical cycles and their interactions with climate and society over multiple spatial and temporal scales. Our ultimate goal is to define the adaptation necessary to address climate risks related to these cycles and guide policy towards their mitigation. For this task, we rely on field- and space-based observations, modelling, monitoring, and experiments on land, in the ocean, and the atmosphere.
Aim of the call: Research related to the goal of the unit.
Potential projects: Fieldwork, sampling, analyses, equipment, cost related to research assistantship, data processing, conferences, workshops or visits of external researchers. The funds can also co-fund and reinforce projects funded by other RTs if added value and RT2 relevance can be demonstrated.
Available funding: The total budget of the call is approximately 400,000 SEK. The budget for proposed projects should be no more than 80,000 SEK.
Eligible applicants: The main applicant should be a member of RA2 (Old RA3 or RA4) and be employed or sitting at SU, KTH or SMHI. For membership, https://bolin.su.se/about-us/bolin-researchers/join-the-bolin-centre
Format of proposals: The competitive proposal should fit within a maximum of two pages and contain: 1) Project background and motivation, 2) Description of relevance for RT2, 3) Project plan, 4) expected output and 5) budget. Font Times New Roman 10, single-spaced. No CV:s or publication lists are to be submitted.
Funds: Funds not utilized for financing activities before March 31, 2023, shall be repaid to the Bolin Center. Please inform us if you have submitted the same proposal to the call of another Research Area.
