For several months, the researcher Florian Roth conducts most of his field work from a small raft moored outside the Askö Laboratory in Trosa. With the help of the measurement system WEGAS (Water Equilibration Gas Analysis System), he investigates how greenhouse gases are emitted from the sediment to the water and into the atmosphere to find answers to questions about how the ongoing climate change is affecting the Baltic Sea and how the Baltic Sea, in turn, is affecting climate change.
The research is part of the Baltic Bridge collaboration between Stockholm University Baltic Sea Center and Tvärminne Zoological Station at the University of Helsinki.
