The Stockholm University Baltic Sea Centre consists of a unique combination of experts and communicators who will collaborate with a wide network of marine scientists to improve knowledge about the Baltic Sea and help society handle its marine environmental problems.

At Stockholm University, successful research and education about the sea has been conducted for over five decades. World leading research about the Baltic Sea, as well as high-level science, originates from Stockholm University.

Qualification requirements
Specific qualifications required to be considered as a candidate for employment include at least a PhD within the subject area of the position (marine ecology, quantitative ecology, fisheries science or similar) and excellence in EwE software including ECOSPACE are essential. Skills in GIS, .NET, R programing and Baltic Sea ecology knowledge are merits. We are looking for a person with a genuine interest in spatial food-web modelling and holistic ecosystem analysis and who is able to:

  • develop spatial food-web models for open Baltic Sea and Baltic costal areas;
  • perform analysis of related scenarios;
  • describe modelling results in light of ecosystem goods and services in a policy relevant context;
  • publish scientific papers and reports.


Assessment criteria
A doctoral degree must have obtained within three years before the application deadline. If there are special reasons, the PhD degree can have obtained earlier. Such reasons are absence due to sickness, parental leave, work for trade unions or other similar circumstances.

Terms of employment
The employment is for two years, full-time. Starting date is as soon as possible.
