Concentration and carbon isotope data of elemental carbon aerosols, Svalbard, Jan–Mar 2009
Patrik Winiger, Örjan Gustafsson
Data of high-volume PM10 aerosol samples, during high pollution events, measured at the Zeppelin Observatory, Ny-Ålesund, Svalbard. Further, radiocarbon and ¹²C/¹³C-isotope analysis of said samples, to distinguish sources (fossil vs. biomass) of elemental carbon (i.e. black carbon).

Data description
Aerosol samples were collected under project POLARCAT, but the publication is not part of it.
As described in the publication, high-volume samples were collected during 2008 & 2009 (see Table S2 in Supporting Information) of which filters with high elemental carbon concentration (Table 1 in main publication) were choosen for radiocarbon analysis. This is due to the high demand of carbon material of the AMS based radiocarbon analysis. Consequentally, only high-pollution events have been analysed (see Figure 2 in main publication).
