At the core of this dataset are the values of climate optima for 146 plant species at different spatial scales. The climate variables are growing degree days, maximum temperature, and minimum temperature. The optima are calculated for a landscape scale (in central Sweden), national scale (Sweden) and continental scale (most of Europe). The data was used to investigate correlations across scales of climate variables.

Data description
The dataset includes: 1) Plant species climate optima for three variables and three scales, 2) plant species abundances in 49 plots of 25 x 25 m in a focal landscape in central Sweden, 3) R-code files. Data are provided in comma-separated value (.csv) files.
1) One file containing climatic optima for growing degree days (GDD), maximum temperature (Tmax) and minimum temperature (Tmin) of the 146 vascular plants (labeled 'V') and bryophytes ('B') that were included in the optima analyses. These climatic optima are presented for landscape scale (column header ending ‘lands’), national scale (‘nat’) and continental scale (‘cont’). National scale corresponds to Sweden were the focal landscape is located. Continental scale corresponds to a large part of Europe, see Fig. 1b in Dahlberg et al. (2019). 2) Four separate files containing: study species, all species, sites, metadata. The latter file explains the content in the other three. Methods are described in Dahlberg et al. 2019.
3) Eight files with R-code for the calculations in Dahlberg et al. 2019. Short descriptions of each file is given in a separate txt file.
