At this site (a.k.a. 'Palgrunden'), the radiance emerging from the water has been measured since 2008 with a modified sun-photometer installed on the offshore lighthouse platform. The measured variable is labeled AERONET - Ocean Color (AERONET-OC).
Philipson P, Kratzer S, Ben Mustapha S, Strömbeck N Stelzer K (2016) Satellite-based water quality monitoring in Lake Vänern, Sweden. The network component called AERONET - Ocean Color (AERONET-OC) provides the additional capability of measuring the radiance emerging from the sea with sun-photometers installed on offshore platforms.

In 2007, within the context of ocean colour validation activities required for the Envisat mission, the European Space Agency (ESA) initiated a project for establishing and maintaining the AERONET-OC station on the Pålgrunden lighthouse in Lake Vänern with hand-on support from the Joint Research Centre in Italy (JRC). Instrument calibrations are performed at NASA Goddard Space Centre on yearly intervals. Currently, the station is funded by the Swedish National Space Board (SNSB).

Site description: Platform: Lighthouse Pålgrunden ('Palgrunden'), close to Granvik (near Lidköping), Sweden, http://wlol.arlhs.com/lighthouse/SWE310.html. The instrument, a modified CIMEL CE-318 Sun photometer, is deployed at approximately 5 m above lake level and 49 m above sea level.
