[{"name":"oden-ao-2018-submicron-aerosol-anions-3","title":"Submicron aerosol methanesulfonate, iodide, iodate and sulfate data from the Arctic Ocean 2018 expedition","summary":"This dataset contains concentrations (micrograms per meter cubed of air) of anions detected in submicron aerosols collected onboard icebreaker Oden during the Arctic Ocean 2018 (AO2018) expedition to the central Arctic Ocean in August and September 2018, also referred to as MOCCHA-ACAS-ICE. The data were collected for the purpose of identifying the sources of aerosol in the summertime high Arctic.\r\n\r\nAerosol was sampled through the sub-1-micron inlet in the triple lab onboard Oden and collected using a particle-into-liquid-sampler (PILS). Samples were frozen within about 12 hours of collection. Samples were thawed and analyzed at UC Irvine using ion chromatography coupled to electrospray ionization with tandem mass spectrometry detection (IC-ESI-MS\/MS) using selected reaction monitoring.\r\n\r\nIons reported are methanesulfonate (MSA), iodide, iodate, and sulfate from 26 August to 19 September, 2018. Reported values are background-corrected using background vials that were collected while the PILS sampled filtered air.","citations":"","comments":"Data were collected during the Arctic Ocean 2018 expedition on board the Swedish icebreaker (I\/B) Oden, which was organized by the [Swedish Polar Research Secretariat](https:\/\/polarforskningsportalen.se\/en\/arctic\/expeditions\/arctic-ocean-2018).\r\n\r\n#### Version history\r\n\r\n##### Version 3\r\nInitial release.\r\n\r\n##### Version 2\r\nNot published.\r\n\r\n##### Version 1\r\nNot published.","category":"Atmosphere","subcategory":"Aerosols","keywords":"Aerosol chemical properties; Aerosol composition; Aerosol chemistry; Fine aerosol; Atmospheric chemistry; Microbiology-Ocean-Cloud Coupling in the High Arctic; High Arctic; North Pole; Arctic Ocean; AO2018; MOCCHA; Icebreaker Oden","scientist":"Michael Lawler, Armando Vilchez, Eric Saltzman","firstname":"Michael","lastname":"Lawler","address":"UC Irvine, Department of Chemistry","postalcode":"92697","city":"Irvine","province":"CA","country":"USA","parameters":"Earth science > Atmosphere > Aerosols","location":"Ocean > Arctic Ocean","progress":"Completed","language":"English","project":"Arctic Ocean 2018","publisher":"Bolin Centre Database","version":"3","constrains":"","access":"Free"}]
