The data were collected to reconstruct the Holocene variability in the southern Lincoln Sea sea-ice conditions.\r\n\r\nThe sea-ice related biomarkers include IP25 (short for Ice proxy with 25 carbon atoms) and brassicasterol. IP25 is produced by certain haptophyte algae living in brine channels at the bottom of seasonal sea-ice, while brassicasterol is a biomarker characteristic of marine phytoplankton productivity.\r\n\r\nFrom the IP25 and brassicasterol data the PBIP25 index has been calculated, which is a semi-quantitative measure of past sea ice conditions. The surface samples cover the northern end of Nares Strait, Petermann Fjord, the southern Lincoln Sea, and Sherard Osborn Fjord.
