Information about the data format can be found at [Kongsberg](https://www.kongsberg.com/maritime/products/ocean-science/ocean-science/es_scientific/sci_es_transceivers/wbt/). The .xyz files include cruise track from NMEA and depth data from the echosounder. The data are separated into two main components: calibration data and observational data. File names include date and time of data collection. Filenames GEO and EFICA mark different settings in which the system was run and that are described in detail in the [expedition report](https://polar.diva-portal.org/smash/get/diva2:1712331/FULLTEXT01.pdf) in the section of WP1 section 8.3 and WP14 section 20.3. Files can be read and processed with Echoview or specialized code in Matlab/Python. The data were acquired in summer 2021 from Swedish icebreaker (IB) Oden during the [Synoptic Arctic Survey (SAS) 2021 expedition](https://www.polar.se/en/expeditions/previous-expeditions/arctic/synoptic-arctic-survey-2021/) organized by the Swedish Polar Research Secretariat. Acoustic broadband data were collected continuously along the cruise track with a wideband Simrad EK80 sonar (18 kHz center frequency), including a Simrad EK80 transceiver and an ES18 transducer. Detailed information about the instrument can be found at [Kongsberg](https://www.kongsberg.com/maritime/products/ocean-science/ocean-science/es_scientific/sci_es_transceivers/wbt/).
