Not Simpler: Connecting Climate Scientists and Society

Prof. Chris Rapley, Department of Earth Sciences, University College London, UK

There is a gap between the traditional roles and practices of climate scientists and the needs of society. Although this has been recognized by some, progress in addressing it is slow. In the meantime, the need for substantive global action on climate change is becoming ever more pressing. The talk will address insights and conclusions from the UCL Policy Commission on Communicating Climate Science.
A pdf of the Commission's report and a related Nature Climate Change 'Comment' can be found at: http://www.nature.com/nclimate/journal/v4/n9/full/nclimate2352.html?WT.ec_id=NCLIMATE-201409

The seminar will be followed by panel discussion with following guests:
Cynthia de Wit, Stockholm University
Leonard Barrie, Stockholm University
Rick Wheatley, Xynteo

Moderator: Kevin Noone, Stockholm University
