Holocene plant macrofossil and geochemical data from permafrost peatlands in Finnmark, Norway

This dataset contains detailed information on plant macrofossils, bulk density, loss on ignition, carbon and nitrogen elemental and isotopic properties from four peat plateaus in northern Norway. One profile was collected from each site in September 2016, with basal peat layers radiocarbon dated to 9800-5150 cal yr BP. The aim of this study was to increase our knowledge of Holocene peatland development and permafrost history in subarctic peatlands in northern Fennoscandia.

Data description

The dataset consists of two excel-files; one with plant macrofossil percentages and counts and one containing information on bulk density, organic matter, elemental (C and N) and isotope (δ13C and δ15N) data.

Names of the four sampling sites: Iskoras, Karlebotn, Lakselv, Suossjavri.
