This data set contains observations of molecular biomarkers for terrigenous organic matter (terr-OM) at high spatial coverage across the East Siberian Arctic Shelf (ESAS) in order to better understand the fate of different terr-OM components.
The data set includes data collected during different expeditions between 2008 and 2016 and it has been used to evaluate the suitability of different commonly-used biomarker proxies to describe terr-OM degradation on the ESAS, to assess their sensitivity to varying contribution of dominant terr-OM sources, i.e. ice complex deposits and active layer, and to compare the relative removal of individual terr-OM components within different marine biogeophysical regimes.
