Gabriel West, Matt O'Regan
Geomagnetic field directions (inclination and declination) are reconstructed for two sediment cores for the past 4200 years. The sediment cores were collected from the Chukchi Sea, Arctic Ocean during the SWERUS-C3 (Leg 2) Expedition in 2014 with Swedish icebreaker Oden.
Age models for the cores are based on radiocarbon dates, cesium-137 and mercury isochrons, and a tephra layer from the Aniakchak CFE II eruption (~3.6 ka ago).
The dataset contains Hg concentration, radiometric activity profiles of ¹³⁷Cs, ²⁴¹Am, ²¹⁰Pb, selected paleo- and rock magnetic data from sediment cores SWERUS-L2-2-PC1 and SWERUS-L2-4-PC1, and the results of a multi-parameter synchronisation of the two records.

Data description
The dataset is included in five comma-separated values (csv) files. Content:
- Hg concentration, ¹³⁷Cs, ²⁴¹Am, ²¹⁰Pb activities from core SWERUS-L2-2-PC1.
- Hg concentration, ¹³⁷Cs, ²⁴¹Am, ²¹⁰Pb activities from core SWERUS-L2-4-PC1.
- Paleo- and rock magnetic data from core SWERUS-L2-2-PC1.
- Paleo- and rock magnetic data from core SWERUS-L2-4-PC1.
- Depth-depth relationship between cores SWERUS-L2-2-PC1 and 4-PC1 following MCMC synchronisation.
Comments
Coordinates of the coring sites:
- 2-PC1: 72.51658° N, 175.3196° W
- 4-PC1: 72.83833° N, 175.7267° W

Version history
Version 2
The paleo- and rock magnetic data files now include columns with sediment ages in cal yr BP. The development of the age model for both these cores is described in the associated study by West et al.
