Planktonic foraminifera data from the Ryder 2019 expedition

This dataset contains measurements of planktonic foraminifera (Neogloboquadrina pachyderma), collected during the Ryder 2019 Expedition with Swedish icebreaker Oden from coastal waters along northwestern Greenland, from Thule in the south to Sherard Osborn Fjord in the north.

These data are the first from the region and are helpful to understand the abundance and distribution of this species, providing an important baseline for assessing future changes.

Planktonic foraminifera were collected using a simple plankton net (mesh size 83 µm), which was hauled from different water depths. The dataset contains the number of Neogloboquadrina pachyderma counted in samples collected from different water depths.

Data description

The dataset contains one .csv file.

The data is organized in the following columns:

1. station The station from which the measurements were taken.
2. latitude Latitude of the sampling location (decimal degrees).
3. longitude Longitude of the sampling location (decimal degrees).
4. neogloboquadrina_pachyderma_counts Counts of Neogloboquadrina pachyderma.
5. sampled_water_depth_in_meter Maximal water depth of sampled water (m).

Data were collected during the Ryder 2019 expedition on board the Swedish icebreaker Oden, which was organized by the Swedish Polar Research Secretariat.
