Stockholm Historical Weather Observations

Anders Moberg

Weather observations made at the Stockholm old astronomical observatory since 1756. The dataset includes sub-daily observations of air temperature, air pressure and cloud amount together with homogenized and unhomogenized daily and monthly averages of air temperature and air pressure since 1756. Observed maximum snow depth each year since since the winter 1904/05 is also included.

The dataset is included in one zip file containing several data files in simple text format with associated readme files. Further information is provided in the associated thematic data presentation.

Comments

The development and updating of the Stockholm Historical Weather Observations dataset is done in collaboration between Stockholm University and the Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute. Essential efforts on digitization, quality control and development of daily and monthly data series was undertaken as part of the project IMPROVE - Improved Understanding of Past Climatic Variability from Early Daily European Instrumental Sources.
