Meteorological parameters measured during the FAIRARI campaign, Po Valley, Italy, February – April 2022
Marco Paglione, Stefano Decesari, Almuth Neuberger, Rahul Ranjan, Ilona Riipinen, Paul Zieger
The dataset provides measured meteorological parameters such as wind components, temperature, relative humidity, and visibility from the Fog and Aerosol InteRAction Research Italy (FAIRARI) campaign 2021/2022 that took place from 8 February to 4 April 2022 at San Pietro Capofiume, northern Italy. These standard meteorological parameters are important to interpret various recorded atmospheric observations such as fog, aerosol composition, and air quality parameters and are used for atmospheric modeling activities.

Measurement system
Wind components, air pressure, relative humidity, and temperature
The wind speed, wind direction, air pressure, and temperature were measured with a Weather transmitter WXT536, Vaisala, Finland, located 3.5 m above ground.
Visibility
The visibility was recorded using a visibility sensor (Visibility sensor 6400, Belfort Instrument, United States) mounted on SU’s aerosol–fog measurement container at around 3.35 m above ground.
FAIRARI campaign
The data was recorded from 8 February to 4 April 2022 at the San Pietro Capofiume measurement site, Italy, as part of the FAIRARI 2021/22 campaign (see Neuberger at al. 2025).
San Pietro Capofiume is located 30 km north-east of the city of Bologna, Italy, in a rural area.
Coordinates: 44.65° N, 11.62° E.
Please consult and cite Neuberger et al.(2025) when using the data.
Associated data sets
The current data set is part of a collection of data sets from The fog and aerosol interaction research Italy (FAIRARI) campaign, November 2021 to May 2022.
