Julia Muchowski, Aileen Bohan, Noemie Planat, Lina Aleke Holthusen, Magnus Asmussen
Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP) data from a hull-mounted Teledyne 75 kHz Ocean Surveyor echosounder onboard the Swedish icebreaker Oden, collected during the expedition ARTofMELT (Atmospheric Rivers and the Onset of Arctic Melt) in the Fram Strait pack ice during the spring transition between May and June 2023. This dataset contains raw data.

Data description
The dataset is provided in 625 raw data files accompanied by one folder containing 7 configuration files. Total size: ~1.3 GB.
ADCP raw data file names have the prefix AOM23__ followed by the date in format yyyymmdd and the time T of collection in format hhmmss, followed by a running number with three digits, followed by 000000.
Files with several file extensions are included, as outputted by the instrument manufacturer software Teledyne RDI VmDas:
ENRRaw current velocity (ADCP) data, current velocity data in beam coordinatesENSContainsENRdata with navigational data from NMEA (National Marine Electronics Association), current velocity data in beam coordinatesENXContent ofENSfiles transformed from beam to earth coordinates using NMEA heading, pitch, roll, as well as bin-mapped, screened for error velocity, and false targetsSTAShort time averageLTALong time averageN1RSingle-port NMEA data or GPS position in dual-port connection modeN2RRoll/pitch/heading data when using two serial ports for NMEA collectionNMSASCII NMEA files, screened and pre-averagedVMOOption settings for collecting the ADCP dataLOGText file with instrument log, including beam width, beam direction, and time stamps. NMEA data is fed from the positioning system on the ship into the ADCP raw files and provides the real time coordinates of the vessel
ENR, STA and LTA files can be read and displayed using the WinADCP software (requires login). Detailed information can be found in the VmDas User's guide (same webpage as the software). N1R, N2R, and NMS files are used by the software to integrate position and ship movement data automatically when processing and visualising the data.
Different configuration settings were used based on the water depth. All used configuration files can be found in the folder configuration_files.
Comments
Data were collected during the ARTofMELT 2023 expedition on board the Swedish icebreaker Oden, which was organized by the Swedish Polar Research Secretariat from 8 May through 14 June, 2023.
