Data from expedition OSO, Southern Ocean, 2007⁠ – ⁠2008

The Oden Southern Ocean (OSO) 2007/08 expedition was carried out during austral summer 2007/08 in Southern Ocean waters off West Antarctica.

With the Swedish icebreaker Oden serving as the research platform, a range of scientific investigations were made. The main scientific goals were investigations of biogeochemistry, oceanography and ecology along western Antarctica. Data provided in the database here comprise processed multibeam bathymetry.

The expedition started in Punta Arenas, Chile, and ended in McMurdo Station, Antarctica, and lasted from November 29, 2007, to January 7, 2008.

Comments

The US National Science Foundation (NSF) chartered Oden from the Swedish Maritime Administration and the Swedish Polar Research Secretariat to break the ice outside the Antarctic station McMurdo by the Ross Sea.
