Cross-shelf transport time and degradation rates for terrestrial organic matter in the Laptev Sea

This dataset contains compound-specific radiocarbon dates for long-chain fatty acids (specific terrestrial biomarkers) along a 600-km transect from the Lena River delta, across the Laptev Sea shelf to the slope, along with associated bulk carbon isotopes and biomarker loadings. From these data, transport times and degradation rates have been derived.

The sediment samples used to develop this dataset were collected during the Swedish-Russian-US Investigation of Carbon-Climate-Cryosphere Interactions in the East Siberian Arctic Ocean (SWERUS-C3) 2014 and the International Siberian Shelf Study 2008 (ISSS-08) expeditions, supported by the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation, the Swedish Polar Research Secretariat and the Headquarters of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
