Standardized values of mid infrared absorbances of peat samples from Store Mosse, southern Sweden
Antonio Martínez Cortizas, Olalla López Costas, Malin Kylander
The dataset contains standardized absorbance values of selected peaks/bands of the mid infrared (MIR) spectra of peat samples. These are the most representative peaks/bands of the peat material and enables to characterize the molecular composition of the peat and how it changes with depth. It also helps in determining the main drivers affecting peat composition.
The samples were obtained from a core collected in 2008 at Store Mosse raised bog and cover almost the entire Holocene (close to 9000 years).

Data description
The data are included in one xlsx spreadsheet file containing:
- Column A: sample identification code
- Column B: depth of the sample in the peat core
- Columns C to BH: standardized absorbance values for the selected peaks. The number of each peak code indicates the wavenumber at which it is located.
Comments
The spectra were obtained using a CARY-630 FTIR (Agilent Technologies) in the mid infrared (wavenumbers 4000 to 400 cm⁻¹) region with a 4 cm⁻¹ resolution.
Absorbance peaks were identified and extracted using the andurinha R package (Alvarez Fernandez and Martinez Cortizas, 2020).
